Hello, my name is Ethan, The Future President of the United States. The country will be in a better place with me as the President. We, as members of The Party of Greatness will make the country better. I promise that we will legalize Cannabis. We believe that now is the time for a simple plant to be legalized. There are so many possible benefits to legalizing marijuana. No matter what your stances on weed are, one thing is for certain and that is that the benefits outweigh the risks when it comes to legalizing marijuana. Another thing that we would like to address is gun control. Gun violence has gotten out of control in our country. According to the nonprofit organization, Everytown for Gun Safety, more than 100 Americans are shot and killed everyday and 200 more are wounded. However, not just the people who are involved in the shooting are affected by gun violence. The people who know the person who was shot, the people who witnessed the attack, or people who live in fear of another shooting. An additional thing that we aim to accomplish is to continue pushing for the passing and approval of the Equal Rights Amendment, which would guarantee equal legal rights for all American citizens of sex. I hope that we would all agree that every person in the United States should have equal rights. It will give men and women equal legal distinction in matters of divorce, property, employment, along with other matters. We probably all agree that men and women are equal, but we do not have a nationwide law that protects the rights of women. There have been 38 states that have ratified this Amendment, but there are still those 12 states out there that haven’t done so yet. I aim to pass this a national amendment and guarantee equality among people of all sexes. An additional topic that I want to address after I am elected is the minimum wage. There are many hard-working people out there in America who work long hours. They are working full-time jobs and they don’t even have a stable life. No one that is working full-time should have to struggle so much that they cannot eat some days, or live on the street. Doing this we would also create more jobs. More people will be willing to take Minimum Wage jobs because the ability to live off of that wage would be great. Many states have already raised the minimum wage to $12.00 and even higher in some states. People should have enough of an income that they should not only be able to care for themselves, but they should be able to provide for families if they have any be able to pay the bills on time. The minimum wage has not increased nationally since 2009 and inflation has caused an 18% increase in prices, but their incomes have not increased. This country needs Universal Healthcare, we are falling behind the times. Other countries all around the world have free and universal healthcare for everyone. We need to help all Americans. 46% of emergency room patients went because they had no where else to go. They used the emergency room as their primary care physician. They could potentially be putting someone else’s life in danger because they are taking up time in the emergency room. This is an example of why medical care costs are rising. Providing Universal Health care would eliminate individuals from having to deal with private insurance companies who may not have the best intentions at mind, which would be taking care of the individual as opposed to doing something like just getting involved to take money. According to ZME Science, having Universal Health Care would save 68,000 lives and $450 Billion in the United States. There are benefits for everyone involved. Another thing that I would address when I am elected to office would be Voter ID Laws. Voter ID Laws restrict tons of people from being available to do what every person that is American should be able to do. Voting is something that shouldn’t cause much of a hassle, but it does. Voting has never really given everyone the opportunity to vote. In the past people had to face issues such as poll taxes, but nowadays people have to face Voter ID laws that prevent the 30 million Americans that don’t have the ability to get a photo ID. That is 11% of Americans who don’t even have the opportunity or the ability to vote if they wanted to. In some states, an ID can cost someone up to $350 and there are lots of people that don’t have that money. Voter ID laws are enforced discriminatory. A study by MIT and Caltech found that minority voters are questioned more often more frequently than white voters, even if the identification is accurate and legal. The United States is about encouraging people to get involved and encouraging people to vote, but currently some states have laws in place and obstacles to overcome that are preventing people from voting. That has to change. We need everyone to have the ability to vote. The last plank that I want to address is the cost of college tuition. The cost that it takes to go to college in the United States today is outrageous. Credit.com says that since 1971, higher education costs have increased by 145%. However, the median household income has only increased 28%. That is a 117% difference. That means that the costs are more than double what their parents and grandparents paid if they attended college. The average cost for tuition, fees, and room and board for a four-year public university was $8,730 in today’s money. On average, it takes people over 20 years to finish paying their college debt. The cost of college has gotten out of control and we have to cancel college debt out or at least make it more affordable for the next set of students going into school.
